Priam Farll is an outrageous and unconventional artist who's had his fill of the snobbish world of Edwardian England. Capitalizing on the untimely death of his manservant, Farll takes on the dead man's identity, makes a new life for himself, and romances an effervescent young widow, while the paintings of the "dead" Farll gain in value.
E. Y. Harburg's lyrics are typically deft and romantic, and Jule Styne's score is a gorgeous tribute to English music hall and operetta, in his own remarkable Broadway idiom. Standout songs include "Sunset Tree," "That Something Extra Special," and the show-stopping "Not On Your Nellie."
